What is your favorite place for "comfort food"?

Mine was Panino's. Went there for lunch yesterday and the majority of the menu choices for lunch were now 88 pesos. That is one heckuva price increase. fug

Only been to Mom's twice in my seven years here. Both times food was very good and different than any other restaurant here. I do lunch with friends every Wednesday. The day Mom's is closed. Maybe, I can get them to change the day for one week and we will try Mom's. thanks, Sandykayak. fug

By the time I got out of Panino's yesterday after having a very thin open faced turkey sandwich served on wonder bread, with a spoonful of peas and mashed potatoes, and slathered in delicious gravy, a glass of iced tea and tip it cost me over ten dollars USD. FOR LUNCH!!! No mas when quality places such as Tango and Roberto's offer 50 pesos lunches. Love Lupita, love her food, but she is pricing out us lower income gingos. I csnnot afford to pay 10 dollars for lunch. Never paid it in the States and will not pay it here. Hoping for a Burger King. fug

Too bad about prices. Panino is one of the best food places around and cleanest too.

I think Tango is $ 55. pesos for lunch and I think Roberto's is $ 65. pesos for lunch.

I notice that Hacienda Ajijic's parking lot is full on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday is $ 99 pesos for all fish dishes. Thursday is $ 99 pesos for all meat dishes, not bad for a good Filet Mignon.

Cafe Magana hands down, good food, meat loaf etc and you can leave your car across the street at the car wash and enjoy your meal, maybe exchange a book or video and when you're done the car is all nice and clean.

Now, if you want to pop over the hill to Ixtlahuacan then it's 5 ponies just off the square.

Am I reading correctly that you are complaining about lunch items costing $6.75 @ an exchange rate of 13/1? Isn't Panino's a sit down restaurant where wait staff serves you in a decent atmosphere? Age old business plan for failure: price everything too low when you open the doors and watch customers run away when you have to price properly!

Well, Chilis Guad didn't make that mistake, I stopped in yesterday and had 1 grande, 1 chico Tecate Lites and fried cheese, $194p - of course plus tip. But, I get a bonus from memories so it's ok and yes, for me this IS comfort food for the soul.

You are not reading correctly, my friend. Using the conversion rate that you suggest, with a glass of iced tea and a tip, it cost me a tad over 10 dollars USD, just as I posted. fug
