Specifically salt-water surf fishermen. Just curious.

Puerto Escondido is a fishing port, with tourism and expat retrement communities super-imposed. It's amazing (to me) to see the boat loads of fish hauled into the harbor every morning, filling trucks of packed ice, in addition, of course, to the local restauranteurs who are there buying their "catch of the day." I have seen folks surf fishing from the rocks around the harbor and in the various small coves west of the harbor. I'm not a fisherman so not sure how much they catch slingling their lines into the surf.

Thanks geri, actually we're leaving this AM for PE, the wife and kid will lounge on the beach at Zicatella while I venture into the mangroves further north, just me and the mosquitos.

I've fished Puerto before, took a local guide out for a bit. Unfortunately they don't practice "catch and release" for ANY species, as we are accustomed to releasing any billfish, but this one was brought back to the "collective" in the Puerto, cut up and dispersed into the collective's catch.

I was hoping to find someone who was an avid fisherman like myself. I've driven and fished the coast from Belize to Brownsville on the Carib/Gulf side, and from Guatemala to Nayarit on the Pacific side. Its always good to compare notes and share experiences with others who are addicts.
