Looking to relocate to Oazaca. Looking for high population of Americans close to the water. Also would like any links to real estate in that area. Thanks

I assume you are referring to the state of Oaxaca, not the city, which is not known for having large bodies water in its vicinity :-) !

If you are looking for a high population of Americans close to the water maybe you better rethink Oazaca and think Puerto Vallarta......

You could also think Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Merida.

The area near water in Oaxaca state with the highest number of Americans is Puerto Escondido on the Pacific Coast, about 6 hours by bus from Oaxaca City or 45 minutes and $110 USD by plane. There are also expats in Huatulco, although that is a bit more "resorty." The English speaking people in Puerto Escondido are an active, friendly bunch. You can get more info, including a forum and links to r.e. agents at www.tomzap.com. However, in Oaxaca rentals and sales of real estate are more frequently done by word of mouth, networking.

I agree with geri (nice to see someone directly answer the question rather than offer an unrequested lesson). Puerto Escondido is a popular surfer destination and draws a younger non-permenant crowd. They have a decent mercado for food shopping. If you take the bus-ride from OAX, take something for motion sickness. Hualtulco, aside from the old centro area is a totally "crafted" community.
