I have been talking to a property owner about a house north of Chapala going toward Chapala Hacienda. The house has no internet connection.. Can anyone tell me about the wireless aailability in that area and the cost of it? Also, what else do you know about that area: pros and cons?

To the best of my knowledge there is no fixed Wifi serving that area. If there is no telephone service or cable, you could always use Telcel's 3G Cell phone internet service, or satellite service (Hughes).

Oh, there is dialup service out there if you have a telephone line.

Thanks for the info and dial-up would not do the trick. Hughesnet sounds like the best solution but I thought I read it wasn't available in Mexico.

I use IUSACELL in Nayarit, but I understand there are problems with it at the Lake. I am completely on my own out in the jungle, but since they added a 4G option, I'm pretty happy. Maybe you could connect with someone with a BAM unit and see if it would work for you? Sorry, I'm only at the Lake in the summer or I'd offer to let you try with my BAM....

My current internet usage is as follows: I have plugged into my router 3 desktops and have wirelessly connected to the same router 3 ROKU boxes and one laptop. All these are necessary since I homeschool my son who is the 11th grade and almost all his work is on the internet, both my wife and I are taking online college classes, and we depend exclusively on the internet for television. How does that affect things?

It would help if you could clarify a couple of things for me. North of Chapala going toward Chapala Haciendas is pretty general. Could you be more specific? Does the property have phone service? If not is service available? Telmex has packages with phone and wireless internet of various speeds. At the time I was looking, installation was free. Price depends on the package.
