As I mentioned in another Post, I went online to the Banjercito website around noon 2 days ago (Tuesday) to get my Temporary Vehicle Importation Permit. About an hour ago today (2PM Thursday), it was delivered to my door by DHL Express. Me sorprende!

Along with the Permit/Sticker was the "Promesa de Retornar Vehiculo Temporaralmente" (Promise to Return [I would have said 'Remove'] the Temporary Imported Vehicle) letter that I must sign and return. They give one about 4 ways to get the letter back to them, including scan & email, which I did just now.

So, I am duly impressed; the application website was easy-peasy and the delivery was certainly above and beyond my expectations. Now if I just get my $400 deposit back in a timely manner several months from now when I exit the country I'll really be impressed.

Now if I just get my $400 deposit back in a timely manner several months from now when I exit the country I'll really be impressed.

I tried to use the Banjercito website last week as well. Went through the whole procedure of filling out the forms, but when I put in my credit card number it got kicked out immediately....so fast it seemed like the website didn't even try to use the credit card. I guess I can try to call the credit card company and make sure it will accept the Banjercito fee. I got a Cap One card since they don't charge the foreign transaction fee.

Another question for you....do you get a tourist visa, or do you have an FM2 or 3? Do you know, if you have an FM3 and get the sticker for the car ahead of time, do you need to stop at the buildings at the border? Or can you just go to the "nothing to declare" lanes, push the red/green light button and carry on?

I suggest that you call Capital One and inform them that you will be using the card in Mexico for some period of time. I had already done this for my card when I got my online permit. Also, I have always heard that, at the border, one must present a credit card with the same exact name as is on your Passport. I also followed this advice for my online transaction.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your FM3 question.....
