seeking advice

I'm wondering if anyone in the forum has any advice for me as to how to teach english to my 6 year old son,my wife is mexican we live in Guadalajara and speak spanish at home but I would like him to be fluent in english,he's a smart kid and I'm looking for a strategy,should I try to only speak english with him,have him take private lessons or what?Any tips would be appreciated.

Limit his TV watching in Spanish, but allow unlimited TV in English.

Create a rule that on certain days of the week, the only language spoken in the house is English. That would require your spouse to speak English, of course.

Send him to an English-language school.

Ship him to the USA for a month or a year. If he was in an English-language school he would learn it in a few months, young kids learn very fast.

Put him in any kind of environment where English is the only language spoken.

Lots of ways to do it.

Find some gringos with kids that speak English. Have play dates. He'll pick it up pretty quickly in that environment.

When I played with the kids in the neighborhood, they picked up English quickly. Much more quickly than they will out of a book. Children learn quickly through play.
