Inmigrante Visa Renewal Process Remarks

Can't Post | Private Reply
I just successfuly renewed my inmigrante visa in Tijuana, B.C., and wanted to share some observations:
It was processed in record time, 24 hours! When I saw the notification asking me to report to the INM office, I was pretty sure they were going to ask me for some silly declaration or additional translations, as they did in previous years. I got nicely surprised. They fingerprinted me, and a couple of hours later I had the new visa in my hands.
Going back to the online application process, I had no problem with pop-up blocker, since there was nothing to be blocked this time. The confirmation number opened in a new page, not as a pop-up window.
In the "formato basico", I disliked the "religion" box again. "Ateo" would most likely not increase one's chances. "Catolico" seems much safer. Of course, one can get even later, but such question should not be present in the application process.
A couple of remarks to Rolly, if you happen to read this post:
In your "The INM Application Forms", you provide different option combinations for the online application. You might add that to extend the inmigrante (old FM2) visa, you need to choose "Refrendo de inmigrante" in the second box.
Also, in the english version of "Formato Basico", in the "Birthday" box, you suggest to write yyyy/mm/dd. I believe dd/mm/yyyy is more appropriate in Mexico.
Nevertheless, thanks for all the available help to Rolly and others. It certainly saves time to understand the process ahead of the visit in INM.
