Phyllis Rauch collecting warm things for Ancianos of Nestipac

Phyllis Rauch of Los Dos B&B in Nestipac (near Jocotopec) is planning the Nestipac Posada for the Ancianos (old folks) coming up in December. I have packed one very large plastic bag full of blankets, sweaters, lap robes, a little jewelry, shawls, mostly new - a few things washed. You would be amazed what you can find in your closets! Don't wait tool long - close to the holidays everyone gets busy.

She is collecting gifts, or any form of support now in anticipation of a large group - this is a poor area. Here is a link to her website which has a map of her location. http://losdosmexico.com/mapE.html She will do pickups (and so will I) if you can't make it out that far. From Phyllis: "Two years ago, sitting on plastic chairs in the street, about 20 oldsters received a blanket or a 2nd hand sweater; we drank cokes, and a couple of the older women sang or offered a poem.

Last year attendees zoomed up to over 80, plus shut-ins. Agroup of young folks provided wonderful entertainment, and the neighborhood cooked up a large pot of hot chocolate which we served with pan dulce. The party was held in the front courtyard of the Nestipac church, admitting only the oldsters and helpers.

Given the economic situation, my main concern this year is presents. If you'd enjoy purchasing a blanket, sweater, piñata (filled), 2nd hand sweater, poncho, socks, glove, whatever, that's great! If you prefer donating cash, we have been able to negotiate some great discounts, such as the store in Joco that last year sold sweaters at 20 pesos each! Cashwould also help with with food, drink etc.

In 2010, after interviewing two of the women, I learned that neither of them had ever had a real Christmas present as children, so I gave them each a little doll.I could tell by the look on the faces of the others, that they also would have liked a toy.So, small dolls also welcome.

The projected date is likely to be during the week before Christmas and New Years. If you would also like to come by and share a cuppa, you'd be most welcome. You could also help handing out presents, etc.

Please send me an email: rauchlosdos@yahoo.com or phone (387) 763-0657. We will offer pick-up locally if you can't bring things to my house. In gratitude and friendship, Phyllis Rauch".

If I send out an email in our Community to help out, are you willing to pick up the stuff, if I can get it organized in one place?

Yes, I'm willing to pick it up - I'm in San Juan Cosala. I took a lot of things up to Phyllis today and her place is difficult to find even though it is a B&B. I doubt most people can find it. She has a sign on the highway but it is way up the hill and part of the road is not good. So just PM me when you want me to pick stuff up. I took blankets, sweaters, shawls, mugs, even some inexpensive jewelry. Most things were like new or I washed or cleaned them.

The person who wants to Paypal, I will ask her - since she runs a B&B she might have one, I'll let you know. Phyllis has a B&B in Nestipac - near the entrance of Jocotopec and she has a team of people in El Chante lined up to wrap presents. Last year they had 80 Ancianos (old folks) at the posada. Some had never received a Christmas present.

Paypal for Phyllis Rauch - she says she has an account - probably for the B&B. Not sure how you look her up but she said it may be under her email which is: rauchlosdos@yahoo.com

And this is her website: http://losdosmexico.com/

She said if anyone uses Paypal to let her know how much is for the Ancianos so she keeps that money separate.

I told her today that there may be other things coming from east of San Juan Cosala and she was touched. She said she thought she would only hear from people in the Jocotopec area. So I will pick up all contributions and take them up to her.

Thanks again for your thoughtfulness.

Phillis is a great lady doing great things. While dropping off donations people should plan a look at the Art Gallery at Los Dos. She has many painting that were done by her late husband Georg.

We are not quite finished a new website for Phyllis showing Georg's paintings but is close enough to being done that I'm going to give it out.
