Living in Oaxaca

Can't Post | Private Reply
In the past (2004ish) there was a TomG that used to post a lot and with what seemed to be quite a bit of first hand experience, about living in Oaxaca. Geri Anderson has contributed a lot as well and more currently.
Would it be possible for people on the ground there, write about their living experiences in Oaxaca.....cost of living, housing, health care, general daily living, water supplies, city infrastructure, etc.?
We, and I'm sure others would be most grateful for insightful information.
Thanks in advance!
Willie

If you go to Yahoo Groups and search for Oaxaca there's a group for expats moderated by Geri. Been pretty slow lately but there are extensive archives and some very helpful members will try to answer your questions.

Willie,

Tom G. left Oaxaca a couple of years ago, and is now living in the US.

Thanks to all who responded! I do belong to and monitor the Oaxaca yahoo group and have gleaned some great info from there but most of it was old. I'm sure they will speak up soon and it won't be too long before we are there in person to check it out moreclosely.

For what it's worth, here's a link to my photojournal blog. We visited Oaxaca and loved every minute. My 9-part series on all the stuff we were able to do there might be entertaining, and even useful:

Hey Jim! I've been all through your blog & love it & even sent the link to friends of ours that live in various parts of Mexico.
Sure wish my photos turned out 1/2 as good as yours! And my grandfather was a professional photographer....ni modo!
Anyway, thanks so much for sharing that and what a wonderful thing to create and be willing to share with others.

I also follow your blog. The pics are wonderful but the subject matter is always simply great. It's the best, by far, of the informational type blogs. I hope that you never run out of material.

Thank you smokesilver, and you too rockydog85251, for your nice comments on my blog. As to running out of material, currently I have a running backlog of photographs for about 8-10 potential blog postings at any given moment. As long as I find interesting/beautiful things to photograph and write about in Mexico, I'll never run out of material. That being the case, I've got a lifetime supply. Stay tuned!
