EXPECTATION CORRECTION:

"Free appetizers and drinks" at the opening may be an overstatement. A few years ago, the ASA provided some serious snacks and drinks, with the result that people charged to the tables when the doors opened, filled up plates and headed out the door to pig out on the freebies. Not the concept intended by the hardworking artists who put on the show.

Since then, the Board of Directors of the ASA decided to provide very minimal refreshments. Think wine, punch and pretzels.
So.......ASA wants lots of people to come and enjoy the art, meet the artists and see what your talented neighbors have been doing. Have a glass of wine and a handful of nibbles, too.

The Sunday show and sale in the Aijic plaza has more vendors from the ASA with lots of their crafts, as well as other local artisans.

The "Soul of Mexico" show is worth seeing if you missed the opening today. The art ranges from portraits (one of Frieda) done in sewn fabric - you have to see it to believe it. There is jewelry, paintings, fabric art, and a quilt - large wall hanging of all Mexican themed fabrics - just beautiful. All the art work at this exhibit is Mexican themed - "The Soul of Mexico". Stop by and see the show Sunday and shop in the plaza, you won't be sorry.
