Hurricane Jova

Is anyone else from the PV area watching this storm? http://www.stormpulse.com/pacific What are your predictions? Should we batten down the hatches and wait for a recurrence of Hurricane Kenna, or is this just another tormenta which will skirt the bay?

Right now it's headed to Manzanillo and we have a big mountain range between us and them. I'm not worried in the least, wouldn't want to be in Manzanillo though.

Definitely watching in Melaque/Barra which currently looks like ground zero

if JOVA stays on this projected path, the eye will pass right over our house in Melaque. The Tsunami alert devices were activated in Melaque, Barra de Navidad and La Manzanilla this afternoon at 1:30 PM, warning residents to prepare and to stay tuned for evacuation procedures. We're battening down the hatches!

We drove to Barra de Navidad yesterday. Taking some precautions like stowing away unsecured items in the yard etc. Looks like it might hit south of Manzanillo but who knows.

not gonna hit South of Manzanillo according to the projected path on www.stormpulse.com, it's still heading straight to Barra/Melaque area. There was a TV crew from Mexico City (I think it was Azteca) filming on the west end beach in Melaque this evening. We are battening down the hatches.

Well hopefully the projections are wrong as they are at times.

That was the warning/alert system. Still a category 3.

The "28storms" site that Sparks gave is pretty good. They are suggesting that models are showing it will come likely into Manzanillo and will increase to Cat. 4 by landfall. The good news is that hurricane force winds only extend out 15 miles from the center. This is unusually small and, if it stays this way, it will certainly affect less of an area than a 'normal' hurricane.

Of course, all of this could change in 24 hours.....

The National Hurricane Center has it turning hard to the NNE with a chance of some high pressure over land pushing it further west. It also says it will probably lessen slightly in strength before landfall.

Stormpulse now shows it as a level 2 before landfall and the track is heading further up the coast
