Since Mexico electricity is on the table, I wanted to bring up some important information, which will ultimately help Mexico, and possibly make some people, or groups of people a lot of pesos.
Mexico is desperate to find new sources of electric power. Just over a year ago the CFE announced their 'buy back' plan, and some on this board have managed to take advantage of this with home solar. They did the same thing in British Columbia about 5 years ago, and there has been a boom in micro hydro electric projects. Hydro power is claimed to be 10 to 100 times more efficient than solar. I know there is a lot more rain in B.C. than most of Mexico, but it is really surprising how little water flow you need, and there are many locations in agricultural areas (small dams for example) which are already perfectly setup for a project. Don't forget the generators do not consume water, it just passes through, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, almost no maintenance or labour. I have done some preliminary research and there seems to be many likely locations here on the Pacific coast to look at in more detail. Access to the grid, to sell your juice, and security are the big concerns.
Even if your source goes dry a couple months of year, it would still be a great feeling to sell more power to CFE than you are buying from them.
