Demetrio Jauriqui was caught and gunned down in 1890, by Federal Troops in as reported in the New York Times. (In many ways similar to the shot out with Butch Cassidy.) Does anyone know that back story on D. Jauriqui? What was his motive for his outlaw ways?

Thanks for the news about Catemaco. I read the Catemaco News hoping to find an article explaining the background story why the infamous bandit Demetrio Jauriqui led a life of crime. Did I miss it in your posting?

I did a Google search and no information dealing with the Demetrio that was nailed in 1890. There are references to other Demetrio Jauriqui - all of later periods.

Jauregui is a common Basque name and is the correct spelling, jauriqui is incorrect, this is why you are not finding information.
