My Mexican driver's license issued in Guadalajara four years ago is about to expire. Does anybody know if I'll have to take the written test again?

I didn't have to take a test here, lakeside, two years ago. I did have to take a very very simple eye test, though.

You just need to take it in and get it renewed. Take your FM2 or FM3 with you, but just in case, also take your passport, along with electric bill for address verification.

BTW, it is not a Mexican driver's license, it is a Jalisco driver's license.
