Greetings and Saludos - Business Mexico has informed me that as of the December 2002 issue and the "Best of 2002" column, they will no longer be publishing "Mexico on the Web" archived online Mexico Connect http://www.mexconnect.com/...der/rmaderindex.html The editor writes: " i am writing to inform you that unfortunately due to budget constraints instituted by our new vice president, we must discontinue the publication of "mexico on the web." we are restricted from using your columns beyond those that we have already received (your latest submission will be published in the december/january issue)" My reaction is one of surprise and also gratitude. I bear the magazine no ill wishes. The column ran its course. Writing MOTW has been so much fun ... not to mention professionally satisfying. I wrote the very first features about the Web in Business Mexico in the mid-90s. That very first article is among my all-time fa vorites since the editor removed every "@" sign, thinking it some sort of typographical mistake. After that, I pitched the idea for the MOTW column which debuted at the end of 1997. This has been one of my favorite assignments and it's been a pleasure working with Business Mexico. MOTW was able to single out the best Mexico-specific websites and cover the rest (!) with suggestions on how the sites could be more reader-friendly. Looking backwards, there have been few independent evaluations of websites. Most columns simply featured "sites to see" without any attempt to evaluate design, download time or the content itself. If you have any comments about the column, feel free to send a message to Business Mexico <busmex@amcham.com.mx> or post a message here. Feedback would be most welcome. Ron Mader
