Dentistry is cheaper here. I only know one dentist, Dra. Rocio Vidrio, our Dentist. She is located across from the Pemex gas station in Ajijic on the second floor at Carr. Ajijic Oriente No. 58. Phone 766-3682. No email. We like her.

While I don't dispute that these two dentists might be good, when one suggests that they are the 'best', one might want to supply the data/criteria that went into the decision to call them 'best'. These two are certainly popular, but best?

I think most people understand the term 'best' when used in a forum represents an opinion and not a proven certainty.

I'm no expert, but a friend who is a retired dentist from Alberta (you know, the land of no PST) told me that Dr. Hara was one of the best lakeside. Also, I understand, that Dr. Hara learned dentistry here in MX but has been to refresher courses, or something like that at the U of M.

Again, this is all hearsay from a person and/or persons I respect. I aint no expert :)

RickS - I don't need to supply anything. Do some research on all 3 boards and you will find that these two Dentists are the most highly regarded by the posters on those 3 boards.

I like dentists with very light hands which your dentist does not have that. I like her prices . To each its own, there is room for every one in the ghetto as you call it or in Chapala.

My current dentist is male, and is in Chapala.

Why be coy and refer to your webboard when we are right here and right now on Mexconnect? (As in, why suggest a detour when you can get there going straight ahead?)

her english is adequate but her assistant does not speak english so you must ask for maria.

and vichil i suggest to you that you have never been to her.
at my age i have been to many dentists and she's the best i have ever had including little or no pain when i have been looked after by her. that seems,to a fault, to be one of her main concerns-not causing pain in any procedure. the root canal specialist that comes to her office from guadalajara is also very careful not to cause pain.

I suggest that you do not have a clue. I followed your recommendation and went there, I like Barragan better. My choice.

I'm with Vichil. Barragan is my choice because he has the latest equipment, spotless facility, a caring manner, and does a great job of cleaning ( does it himself; not handing it to an assistant) in about 20 minutes flat. Reasonable charges, too. Since it takes several weeks to get an appointment for cleaning........he doesn't need to advertise, so I can't help but wonder a little why Dr. Haro has those large ads in the Reporter every week.

This is not to say there aren't other very good dentists around, but when I find one I like..........why keep looking?

Yes, Peter, I read your reference to seeking the information on this forum. But as I said about taking detours...........why not just answer the question? Plowing through the search function isn't that much fun.

i didn't recommend her to you but to your husband bubba/aka hound dawg etc. and he never went to maria according to him so i would have to assume,neither did you. what is your motive for slagging this highly skilled and honourable dentist. by the way gringal her assistant only hands her the instruments, cleans them in the autoclave and does no dental work whatsoever.
you asked and i put her forth without slagging your choices.
her cleaning charge to me including extra treatment for spot gum disease of which i am genetically predisposed was $250 pesos[she gave me 3 days supply of antibiotics].
my wife needs a 25 year old bridge replaced and maria discovered that one of the teeth holding it needs a root canal. her specialist friend is pregnant and has morning sickness so she can't come to chapala. maria made an appointment for my wife with barragan to do the procedure. she did tell my wife not to forget her wallet though-jaja!
now that's honourable,caring and professional;sending a patient to the competition-no!
since i'm at it,i'll regurgitate some other aspects of my previous posts about maria. people have come to her from as far away as england on dental vacations. my best friends mouth was devastated by chemo cancer treatment. maria capped all the teeth he had remaining[26] .put in a 4 tooth bridge 3 root canals 2 extractions all of which took two visits from toronto to here[3 weeks and then four] her charge $3200 cdn, his air fair and accomodation $2000 cdn. it would have cost over $40,000 in toronto which he couldn't afford. this was done 2 years ago and the guy looks like a movie star mouth-wise with zero problemas.

You are correct my husband never went but I did. No arguments she is nice and her prices are good and I like Barragan better, No need for a novel You like her and I like Barragan what is the problem with that ?
