we were required to show our daughters birth cert. she is under 18.
it needs to have an apostille (which i need to get from the US) plus be translated in spanish.
this a requirement in bucerias atleast.

sorry for the coinfussion we did not need this. passports only.
have you heard of other families not needing an apostille for the child birth cert. as of late?

Yes! I had to apostillar my daughter's birth certificate. State of Veracruz. They won't take anything else. I used Top Flite Legalization, 4800 Hampden Lane Suite 200, Bethesda Md. 20814, Tel # 202 741 5636. Excellent service, less than a week. Make sure you check with imigration about who they will accept for the offical translation. I had to have it done twice because they wouldn't accept my first choice, who had an offical stamp and license.

i am sending the birth cert. to a friend in colorado.
the secretary of state produces an apostille on the spot for $15
and then my friend will send it back.

what's everyone's thought on shipping: dhl, ups or fedex?
i'm going to ship from a bookstore and then have it shipped back to them and pickup it up.

Hi Rolly,

About 18 months ago, I also was required (in Tamaulipas) to provide an Apostiled Birth Certificate for my (then) FM 3, and I am sure over 18 years of age! (smiling)

who knows?
i asked the women specifically about our marriage license and our birth certs. and even pointing to them each individually.
she said no. only our daughter's needed one. this was in bucerias about 2 weeks ago. maybe there are new rules?

i'm about to send hers to US/colorado and will also send our marriage cert just in case (also colorado) as they are $15 per doc yet the shipping to and from is almost $100. my wife and i were born in other states and no doubt have the old style birth certs so i'll wait and see what happens @ the san miguel office.

if they want our birth certs. appostilized then i guess i'll try again when in back in sayulita as i'll be there a month before my 180 fmm is up.
