Life Planning in Jalisco is an unusual blog because it moves across borders researching and exploring what foreigners may want to get into place as 'we' age in dealing with the legal and medical maze found south of the border. The blog covers discussions about durable powers of attorney in Jalisco (and in Mexico), health care directives/living wills, what's available from the Mexican federal government, ideas of who you call in an emergency, how they know what meds you might be on, who takes care of you when you can't, who takes care of the dog..... The link is www.lifeplanninginjalisco.wordpress.com Any questions....??? You a welcome to post a note on the website or directly to the author! The main publication is Life Planning in Jalisco, which is available electronically or in hard copy at La Bella Vida in Ajijic or at the Law offices of Azucena Bateman, also in Ajijic. Lots of other information is available in a wide-variety of posts on-line. For those located in the Lake Chapala area, you will find recent articles in Judy King's on-line magazine (June) and in the Lake Chapala Review (June). For those of you who are really working at getting this stuff in place, or wanting to get it in place, the easiest, least expensive point to start with is the Mexican Federal Legislation that let's you designate someone to make medical decisions for you when you cannot and allows you to set out 'health care directives' (living will). More information is on the site. It's possible to do it yourself, but also available is Lic. Azucena Bateman, in Ajijic, who has agreed to provide this service for a limited fee as a community service! Life is as Life happens..... Jalisco Susan JaliscoSusan
