Driving Mexican plated car to Texas

I am going to Texas to pick up some things next Friday and planing on crossing at Harlingen. We are going to cross, pick up the things and spend the night and start back the next morning.
What do I need to cross in and out of Mexico with this vehicle?
I have the Mexican insurance, title, Inspection what else do I need?

You shouldn't need anything else although I would recommend you buy US liability insurance before you cross which is available for about $6 per day. You will probably be asked some questions about ownership of the vehicle as well as standard questions about purpose of the trip/where you are going and how long you will be in the US.

If the vehicle has been driven across before it should show up on the system. If the owner is not in the vehicle you will probably get checked a little closer.

We drive from Mexico City to US once a year (for the last 10 years) with a Mexico plated car, two dogs, one US/Mex citizen and one Mexican citizen with B1/B2 Visa. I have never been asked a thing about the car or our pets. Hassled about many, many, many other things...but never the car.

I second Alta's reco, get temporary US auto insurance for your trip, it's very cheap. The Ins company I use asks for a copy the tarjeta de cirucalcion and a Mex DL.

We purchased ABA insurance (company is owned by Ally Bank, Michigan, ex-GMAC) for our Mexican-plated car (though they, like most Mexican auto insurers, also insure foreign-plated cars in Mexico). Was pleased to note that their "limited" policy includes some U.S. coverage underwritten by a U.S. insurance firm. (Oft-hand, I forgot, but possibly the coverage is for 30 days at a time.) ABA's "amplio" or customized policies may provide more coverage than the "limited" policy's $US 100,000 liability coverage. I would certainly opt for higher coverage in the USA.

Since the OP has long since come and gone this is just a general comment. Very few people in the US carry $100,000 in liability insurance coverage for their vehicles and the majority of motorists only carry the minimum limits required in their state (e.g. $20,000 in Texas). I know the Mexican carriers market sell daily/weekly policies at the border sell minimum limit coverage although I guess higher limits are available. I have had professional dealings with CAIC (Commercial Alliance Insurance Co) and found their liability adjusting comparable or better than similar sized US carriers.
