Working in Guadalajara

Hello everyone!!
I'm a graphic designer and I will be moving to Guadalajara, and will be living with relatives. Does anyone here or anyone know someone that works in this field in GDL? I haven't found any information, so I'm hoping someone might have info on this here. I'm basically searching for salary information and any bus transportation sites or maps. Before anyone asks I am acquiring the necessary paperwork :). Thank you.

The niece of a friend of mine recently (with in a year or 2) graduated from university with a degree in graphic design. She is happy to be working in her field and is making 6000 Pesos a month (about $515 USD) with a 48 hr work week. It is not uncommon to work on Saturdays here ( no that not dollars and is not typo)

Wow, now is that enough to live comfortably? I'm pretty sure that's starting salary right? The reason I ask is because I don't know how much is cost to live in Mexico. Since you wrote 6000 pesos a month, does that mean she gets paid once a month? As for the link, thank you I will be suing that allot. :)

It all depends on your circumstances she lives pretty much rent and bill free with her family. There are people that make a lot more and people that make a lot less here in Mexico. She is most likely paid every 2 weeks. I really do not know. Usually salaries are quoted by month where in the US they are quoted by year. Yes that is the starting salary for a recent college graduate in the field.

If you want to get a jump on your job search you can take a look at OCC Mundial http://www.occmundial.com.mx/

Job posting and discrimination laws are VERY different here. They want to know if you are married, your age, how many kids, and often times what you parents do or did for work.....

Gringos living very very modestly here in Merida report $8,000 pesos a month to be a minimum for living independently in their own (small) place. If you rent a room, eat in cocinas economicas, do not go to movies etc, take buses, travel very little, accept slow internet or use public Wi-fi spots, have no serious medical problems, etc, then you could get by on this amount.

I don't know if it's living "rent free", but the reality in Mexico is that most people do not "leave home" until they have a family of their own (if then) and are living in extended family units. Salaries reflect this, and very few starter jobs pay enough to live independently.

Thank you all who responded :). So it seems that 8,000 is the minimum, which is what I also thought about after viewing different good sized apartments. I'll be living with relatives for about 6 months, and then I'll be moving out, I don't want to be a bother :). The plus side is, that I'm not married, have no kids, I'm 24, I literally don't watched TV, so that will cut some bills, I don't have any health problems, the only thing I'll need is internet :), and of course the other necessities, electricity and water.
