Anonimo and esperanza, Sorry, but the OP is correct. IN SPANISH all diacritical marks (diacritics), those that we call accent marks, cedillas, circumflexes, tildes and others that I don't know the specific English name for, are called tildes. This confused me no end when I was a regular participant on WordReference Spanish-English forums when the native Spanish speakers would refer to all to them as tildes, which, as esperanza says, is just the little squiggle above the n in the enye (ñ) IN ENGLISH.
