...I have read a lot here on bringing a car into Mexico permanently... When you bring your vehicle with foreign (i.e., USA, Canada, etc) license plates into Mexico, you are not bringing it in permanently. You will be granted a temporary import sticker for your vehicle. When you sign the paperwork to receive the sticker, you sign a statement promising that you will remove the vehicle from Mexico if you leave permanently AND that you will not sell the vehicle in Mexico. In order to receive the temporary import sticker for a vehicle with a lien (i.e., a car that is financed and that you are still paying for), the lien holder must give you a letter of permission to bring the car into this country. If that lien holder refuses, you will not be able to bring the car into Mexico. http://www.mexicocooks.typepad.com
