Looking for an apartment to rent in Queretaro

for 2 months next winter, mid January to mid March, preferably in or near the historic center, in a safe area, must be close to public transport. I'm a single retired Canadian lady, well traveled, avid amateur photographer of historic/colonial buildings, I speak passable Spanish. Minimum reqtms: 1 bedroom, bathroom with shower, natural light, kitchenette with fridge, hotplate, microwave, must have internet connection/WiFi & cable TV. Rent range US$500/month including utilities, would consider paying more for a nicer place. Any leads or tips greatly appreciated.

I live just south of Queretaro and have worked and stayed in Queretaro on numerous occasions before moving to our small pueblo just 25 minutes south of Queretaro. Queretaro is not an inexpensive city. I am sure that somewhere there is some apartments such as you looking for but I really doubt you wil find all you are looking for that price range. Furnished (barely), cable and wifi (doubtful), including utilities (doubtful). The only way you JUST MIGHT find that is to be on the streets looking. Does anyone here know about the Reposo Real - suites El Jacal - at Hacienda Sta. Barbara 105, Tel: (52) 42 16 8120?

I've lived near there, it's an iffy area, quite a distance from the colonial section. There are some nice homes in the area but this is in a larger apartment complex that has seen it's day.

You might check with HOME B&B, in the Centro Histórico. Shelley may have an apartment with kitchen. http://www.queretarobandb.com/index.html

Thanks Anonimo. Shelley was highly recommended by several people & I have already been in contact & will be staying there in her home 'suite' ;o) Thanks to all for the suggestions.

We've stayed with Shelley a couple of times and she is great! A real salt-of-the-earth type who has encyclopedic knowledge of what to see and do in Querétaro. Also, she is a gourmet cook, so don't miss any of her breakfasts! Finally, Shelley is very well connected with the expat-community (it's pretty small) and probably would be happy to connect you with others, as she did us.
