Would the USA move unilaterally against him?

I don't think so. Most Americans don't know him or understand how he relates to the U.S.
Chapo may be responsible for as many deaths as bin Laden but he has not engendered the same personal animosity.

Bin Laden specifically set out to kill as many Americans as he could, Chapo, car companies, tobacco companies, car companies, gun & knife manufacturers etc, in fact even hospitals sloppy practices all kill more each year, the one defining difference is that none of them actually set out to kill anyone, they need them as a continuing revenue stream - as does El Chapo.

I agree. Chapo is a business man and Americans can relate to that on a certain level even if the methods are despised as criminal.

Chapo and his kind kill people in order to make more money. UBL and his kind make money in order to kill more people.

Although one thing that is revolting people with the cartels is how they more and more look like they are killing for the fun of killing with their skinning, dismembering, and other such mutilations.

What would happen if one of the drones "accidentally" fired a missile into Chapo's mountain hideout in Durango State or maybe he too is hiding in plain sight?

What makes you think he's in a "mountain hideout"... which might not be surrounded by perfectly ordinary farmers? Or, maybe like Osama bin Ladin, living in a gated community (which in Mexico is going to mean with a lot of gringo retirees)? And, how are ordinary Mexicans going to relate to military strikes of this sort, directed from a foreign country?

That is, assuming Chapo isn't — as many believe — "protected" by PAN.

Like the CIA claiming that Bin Laden was hiding in caves, DEA is speculating that he is hiding on the mountains of Durango State:

Maybe I should have given a note of sarcasm in my post? However, the US tends to be very good at claiming accident when something is done that the host country may not care for!

Actually, I recall CIA sources being quoted years ago that due to his health problems Bin Laden would be hiding in some large urban area.

Unfortunately, the prospect of aerial attacks by the U.S. military may be real: http://www.eluniversal.com.mx/primera/36802.html

The vehicle discussed in the article is the Global Hawk, strictly surveillance as it does not carry missiles. Don't get ahead of your facts.
