Not exactly an auspicious start for Mexico's first cruise line:

Apparently President Calderon was present at the launch of this new ship about a week ago.

I don't think the ship itself is new - an older Carnival Cruise Line ship - but what a sad start to a new venture. I think we'll wait awhile before deciding to try it out.

You are somewhat correct, it was built in 1971 and operated for many years as the Nordic Prince of Royal Carribean Cruises' and then more recently as the Aquamarine of Louis Cruise Lines.

For some reason, I though I had read that this was going to be a new ship. Also thought that it was the maiden cruise but actually the second.
