Circus in town?

I saw circus trucks on the highway today with lions, tigers, horses, etc. Dows anyone know where and when it is?

Apparently, it is right now and in Chapala. Got sandwiched between the tigers and camels today and it took me a half hour to get from Riberas to Villa Nova. Fortunately, I had my big black lab in the backseat and pretended I was a psrt of the parade screaming "slavaje perro" to all of the kids and waving like mad to them. It was great fun until I realized how much I was embarrassing myself and then pulled over to the side of the road to let the procession regroup. Rest of the trip was pretty boring. T

T, I would have paid to see that show:)

If anyone knows where they are in Chapala, please let me know. I would like to take my Mexican goddaughter. I was thinking of taking her to the zoo but she is only 6 and that would be a really long day (for me:)

The circus is in Chapala on the so-called "City Lot," just south of the Pemex station as you go north on Av. Madero, Chapala's main north-south street. Not sure for how many days, but it's usually more than one or two.

I love the zoo in GDL. It is huge and incredible. Trams and jeeps and leave when you want to. You can always come back again. I have. It is an easy drive, also. Just saying that in case you have not been there. Still not sure where the circus is, but are they not usually just north of the Chapala tianguis? Sorry, I am not a better help.

I found the circus today. It's just before the Pemex Station in Chapala same side of the street. The only early show is on Sunday at 11:30 and then 4pm. Cost is 70 pesos for the seats up high and 100 pesos for the ringside seats.

I would love to take them to the zoo one day but I have to be sure I can find it.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Good for you. Enjoy the circus with the kids. I am usuallly turned off by circuses in Mexico, as the animals look in ill health. but when I was trapped in the parade yesterday, I marveled at how robust and healthy the animals looked. Think this is a good circus.

If you do not know how to get to the zoo in GDL, check with Cruz Roja, as they just did a bus trip, and my guess is they will do another one soon. Great fun and you do not have to be a kid to enjoy. T.

That is what I am thinking, Cruz Roja will offer it again, then I don't have to do the drive. I feel the same way about circuses (and zoos) - I don't like animals behind bars. They did look well fed didn't they? But these kids will probably never get to see these kind of animals unless I take them, and me not patronizing them will not make them go away. And the way things are going in the wild, circuses and zoos may be the only way to save some of the species.

I was going to take them Sunday - the only day there is an 11:30 show. I was just told Susana's behavior has been bad this week and is not allowed to go. I'm a little upset because this is happening a lot. There are a lot of educational experiences they are now having because they get grounded - 5 and 6 year olds!

So I'll go to the center and read them a book, maybe take a DVD and some popcorn:(

We went to the circus in Sayulita in January. What a great experience.
