My recent non-inmigrante experince in SMA

I just renewed my (formerly) FM3 for the first time and thought I would share my experience.
This was in San Miguel de Allende, your local INM office might do it different.

My renewal, here in SMA, required 3 trips to the INM office.
Trip #1) Get a "HOJA DE AYUDA PARA EL PAGO EN VENTANILLA BANCARIA". This contains information that any bank will need when you pay your $1,294 peso renewal fee. You can get this form from the front desk secretary at INM.

I guess you could just print this one out, write in your info and save yourself that first trip to INM. (This would only work at San Miguel INM)
Go to bank and pay the $1,294. You will get a receipt. KEEP IT!

Trip #2) Here is what I needed for my renewal:

a. Start here: http://www.inm.gob.mx/...olicitud_de_Estancia. Select 'EXTENDER LA ESTANCIA' then "PRÓRROGA DE NO INMIGRANTE".
Then rest of the form is fairly straight forward.
When complete, click GUADAR. Then verify everything you entered is correct. Click SI. You will get a document locator number and a password. Write down both. Then click on 'Impresión de solicitudes' to print out the form you just completed. Once printed, there is additional info your need to write in. You will need to take one copy of this document. The INM agent will compare the info on this form with your passport
b. You will need the original receipt you received from the bank for your renewal fee and 3 copies of the receipt. The INM agent will want the original & 2 copies, you keep one copy.
c. You will need a declaration letter stating the information you the INM to obtain your FM3 is still accurate and has not changed. Here is the one I used without any trouble. http://www.engagesite.com/Declaration_INM.txt

e. You will need some photographs of yourself. You will need three (3) tight head shots and two (2) right side shots. They must be in color and 25mm wide x 30mm long against a white background. No eyeglasses or jewelry/earrings and all you hair must be pulled back off your forehead and behind your ears, (I did mine with my digital camera and my color printer)
f. Bring your current FM3 and passport

You give the agent all the above documents and information, he will give you a 'INM receipt' and tell you when to come back and get your new 'FM3' card

Trip #3) Go directly to the 'DOCUMENTS PICKUP WINDOW" with your INM receipt, bring your passport!, and they will ask for some finger prints.
