Foreigners to receive better service in San Miguel

The recent murders in SMA drew attention to the fact that gringos have largely been shut out of the information loop due to both language issues as well as lack of transparency. Contrary to what some people believe, I think that the civil list and the recent broadcast of the Coffee with the Consul have been beneficial in exposing these facts and have gotten the authorities' attention. The State Attorney will today announce a special unit dedicated to providing bi-lingual service to foreigners and Mayor Lucy has promised better communication with, and investigations by, the Ministerio Publico. This is really good news and, if accomplished, will lend credence to the image of San Miguel as a community which takes the safety of it's residents and tourists seriously. It won't stop all crimes of course but it will insure that the people know whether they are actually being prosecuted. That isn't the case in most Mexican towns. http://mx.news.yahoo.com/...cute-san-miguel.html Brian Sent from my iPad
