Has Anyone Ever Used This Pproduct for Roofing?

Has anyone ever used this (or any other) rubber based product for a new roofing cover on a home?

I know there are new rubber based roofing materials out there, but haven't kept up with them. I also do not know of any sold and installed in Mexico. We have 5 boveda ceilings and I am hoping to get some first had knowledge here.

Hi Robert: Can you explain or maybe give me a link to a boveda roof? Here in Sonora we have flat (slight slope) roofs. I am very familiar with those. On edit I just googled the Bovead roof. I did not know they used impermiabilizante on that type of roof. I use Impak 7 year on our roofs. It is available at Home Depot but you may find it cheaper elsewhere. First you have to use a plastic cement on any cracks. The you apply a sealer. Next is the maille (sp) which is a mesh cloth. Get the good cloth. Then the product. I use a roller to apply. I have one roof that is still fine after 10 years. Our climate is very severe. Hot and humid, wind, salt air and heavy rains every few years. On my shop roof I applied a different material. I would have to find the name in my files. It looks like rolled roofing but is rubber and asphalt or fiberglass and asphalt. It comes on rolls with a gravel top surface. Torched on. Good for 20 or more years. I applied imperbiabilizante on top of that material. Hope this helps.

My home has the exact same design (herring bone in quarters) such as the photos in Cupulas (Domes) and the photo above those two with chandeliers as an arch boveda. Five rooms with herring bone pattern in quarters with three smaller rooms with "boveda" arched ceilings. Maybe these photos can illustrate further the "boveda" roofs and ceilings.

If you are in the Lakeside area, this is how my Contractor recommends and does his roofs with a 10 year Guarantee. His name is below. He uses ONLY Fester ACRITON with a 10 year warranty.

November thru May is the best weather for roof work. Weather and surfaces MUST be dry.

1. Scrape, grind all loose material and rough areas. Acid wash the roof. Clean
using a power washer, otherwise Fester Acriton will not adhere.

2. Check all loose roof tiles. Remove loose roof tiles, inspect for cracks, repair
and recement roof tiles.

3. IMPORTANT: Put a very thin concrete only cement wash over the roof tiles,
otherwise the Fester Acriton will not bond.

4. Apply Fester Festerbond to roof. (This is a high quality bonding agent)

5. Apply a thinned down coat of Fester Acriton to roof. Lay Membrane into this
Fester Acriton. Put on another coat of Fester Acriton.

6. Apply 5 more coats of Fester Acriton as it comes from the bucket, without
thinning, on the roof on different days, allowing each coat to dry.

7. Your Contractor should give you at least a 7 year Guarantee and better yet a
10 year Guarantee. You should check his references and talk to others he
has done roofs for.

Hello johninajijic,

Thank you very much for the response. This sounds like a good fellow who knows his work. I wish I lived a bit closer to your area. I live near San Juan del Rio and I would think that may be a bit far for him to travel. It's good this fellow speaks English or if he is more comfortable using Spanish, this would not be a great problem as my wife is a Mexican national and they could converse easily. I will call him, but I think I am just too far away. I also have a lot of other work during a remodel that will take some time to do. Maybe this would make it more worthwhile to him. I will certainly call him and see what he has to say. Again, thanks a lot for the information.
