col rabino kohl rabi

This morning I found some veggies which I have never used. I believe it is called kohl rabi, from the taste of it I will mix it with potatoes in a puree, grate it and mix it with a mustard mayonaise and serve it with canned tuna and hot potatoes which we do with celeriac and use it in an indian curry.
Any other ideas to cook or serve kohl Rabi? I could use some ideas as it is dirt cheap , delicious and plentyful right now.

In the Midwestern US, we eat it sliced and raw as a veg. The only place I have ever seen it in Mexico has been in the Yucatan, where it is used in Puchero de Tres Carnes and other meat soups & stews. I have seen it also called colinabo.

Happy cooking!

We cut it into cubes and roast it in the oven with a little rosemary and olive oil at 425F.

Thanks, the lady this morning called it colinavo as well... We have tried it raw as the vendor told me they eat it raw here and it is delicious, roasting them with olive oil sounds pretty good too.
We just found some turnips so now we are totally happy....

It's not the "eating interesting vegetables" that makes folks like me happy, it's the ability to cook desired recipes that does the trick.

I've gone 13 years without being able to cook my family's nearly 200 year-old beef stew recipe, solely because I have NEVER seen a turnip for sale here in Mazatlán and, believe me, there is NO replacement for the flavor of a turnip. Oh, I cook a great beef stew without turnips, but it just doesn't come up to the level of that old, old recipe.

I would be a very happy camper if I could find turnips for sale in Mazatlán.
