I want to let everyone know about a great event coming up soon! In their continuing efforts to support education in the Costa Alegre area, La Catalina Educational Foundation has recently teamed up with Danzarè Eventos, the managing organization of the esteemed Ollin Yolitzli folkloric dance group, to host a fundraising benefit in the small, artsy coastal town of La Manzanilla, Jalisco. The event, Día Mexicano, will be held on January 8th from 1pm – 6pm at the Ejido’s Casino.
The featured dance group, Ollin Yolitzli, proudly took home the gold medal in a prestigious dance competition in Bolivia in the fall, competing against 72 top dance groups from different parts of the world. The dance show will offer a repertoire of traditional to modern dance pieces from the different periods of Mexico’s history.
Other event festivities include a full buffet of traditional Mexican food created by top local cooks, live music, and an art and photography exposition showcasing Mexican artists, including a series on Folkloric Dancers by Gabriela de la Vega. Event proceeds will support the dance programs at Danzarè Eventos, the Folkloric dance programs in La Manzanilla’s public schools and the free educational programs sponsored by La Catalina Educational Foundation, A.C.
Advanced reservations are recommended, but tickets can also be purchased at the door on the event day. Tickets for this not to be missed event can be bought in advance at the La Manzanilla Art Gallery, by phoning La Catalina Educational Foundation at 315-351-5362 or contacting them by email at:
