Chili chino

Last week at the mercado in Monterrey I purchased some dried chilies called chino. They are about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide with a smooth skin and a dark red-brown color. Can anyone enlighten me as to what these chilies are, use, fresh name, etc.?
Thanks

Here's your answer, from the glossary at Cocina Mexicana on-line:

CHILE MULATO

De color rojo intenso, proviene del poblano oscuro. Para adobos, salsas y moles. También se rellena. Otro nombre CHINO.

I knew this chile sounded familiar. It's labeled CHILE MULATO where I bought it.

Thanks for the try Denis but it's not a mulato.
I've purchased mulato chilies many times and they are kind of like a larger ancho. Maybe 4 to 5 inches long and a wrinkled skin when dry. The ones I bought are much smaller and definitely smooth skinned. I was thinking they might be a dried manzano but that's a guess.
Any other suggestions?
