Hotels in Michoacán

I want to visit Michoacán and go to the Santuario de la Mariposa Monarca El Rosario. I was wondering if anyone had any hotel information?

THere are hotels in Angangueo, but I don't know if that town has recovered from last year's flood. The Don Bruno is said to be the best place in town.

There are also hotels in and near Zitácuaro, of which the Hotel Rancho San Cayetano is a fine place to stay, but not cheap. In addition to genial and helpful hosts and comfortable lodging, the optional meals are first rate, a fusion (if I may use that maligned word) of European and Mexican elements.

thanks for your reply. i just returned from Michoacán and stayed at a hotel in Zitácuaro called Hotel Cacique. http://www.hotelcacique.com/ it was a very clean i think very reasonable. 500 per night. and the rooms are just like the photo. i was not disappointed. if you have not gone to the Santuario de la Mariposa Monarca El Rosario http://www.study-mexico.com/...antuario-monarca.cfm i highly recommend going.

The Hotel Cacique looks nice. I see that they have a Denny's Restaurant! ;-)

We stayed in the Cacique a couple of trips ago. It waas very clean and spacious. No fans though. I was a little un-nerved though, by the fact that the floor vibrated quite a bit whenever a large vehicle passed.

I'll second the vote for Rancho San Cayetano...amazing place! We are still dreaming of the food there and of the vistas when we were visiting the monarcas!
