New to Morelia with two dogs (looking for vet and pet store)

Hi there.

I just moved to Morelia a few days ago with my Yorkie and my French Bulldog. I wonder if anybody could recommend a good vet and pet store in Morelia. Most stores I found so far have hardly any pet toys and good dog food is so expensive. Can anybody recommend a reasonable pet store and a good vet in Morelia?

We think our Morelia vet is tops. Dr. Barajas and his wife, Dra. Gabriela, have cared for our pets for about five years. Most veterinarians do not specialize in small animals. Dr. Barajas diagnosed two very difficult illnesses, one in a cat and one in a dog, and saved both pets' lives due to his diagnostic acumen. I would recommend these veterinarians without reservation. Their office is in downtown Morelia, just south of the Centro Histórico.

Pet food prices are just plain high here; there's no way around it, particularly if you prefer to feed your dogs a premium-brand dog food. We actually made our own dog food for a couple of years, but Dr. Barajas asked that we discontinue feeding it to them as the breed of our dogs (Papillons) are susceptible to dental problems and the soft food, no matter how healthy, was bad for their teeth. Dr. Barajas said that they needed just croqueta (kibble).

Thanks so much for your advice. I saved the address and will contact this vet next time my dogs need to see the doc. I really appreciate the info!!!!!

As Esperanza mentioned, premium pet food is quite expensive here. Now I buy Kirkland Premium in Costco. It's supposed to be decent and is way less expensive than Royal Canine.

I was just in Morelia with my mother and her guide dog. We found a fantastic vet in the centro colonial. Here is his info:

My husband has a guide dog too--plus we have
two other dogs and they ALL need a special diet.

Basically we need a single source protein, without grains.

We usually bring a large quantity with us (driving) but
I was wondering if it is legal to ship the food into Mexico?
We'd order it sent to our shipping place here--and of
course we would pay duty.

But will dry dog food get through MX customs?
