Sorry I always get confused between direct and nonstop. There were a couple of US airlines flying into Tuxtla last time I flew there but I do not think they are nonstop. By the way in the summer you can usually get deals to Cancun, since you are retired fly to Cancun and take bus to whereever you want to go. The buses in Mexico are very good, comfortable, have flexible schedules and are way cheaper then the airlines. They also take you right to town versus out of town. A cab from San Cristobal to Tuxtla is over 500 pesos alone. You can take vans there but after a long flight it can be a pain.
