Callo de hacha mystery solved!
Can't Post |
I hope Cathi enjoyed her Vuelve a la vida. After a hard night's partying (Nochevieja, perhaps?) this is just the thing. And I am so grateful to you, Gran, for identifying callo de hacha. I had always assumed it was some mysterious variety of clam, and my dictionaries, including the usually helpful all-Spanish Larousse, were no help. In Spain scallops are vieiras (sea scallops) or zamburiñas (bay scallops). My Salvadoran wife calls them conchas. Thank heavens for Mexico Connect for solving this mystery! There are several of you -- gran, Chacha and Lovanda come to mind -- who I wouldn't mind meeting in the real world. See you in México!
