My husband and I recently returned to Mexico from holiday in UK, we have British passports and did not have our FM3 (resident visa) with us as it was being renewed. The Airline at Heathrow would not allow a one way ticket without the FM3 which proves residency in Mexico so we had to enter as Canadian citizens because we had our citizenship cards with us. You may want to check into it before you go further. Good luck.
