Is the NFL network available as an add-on package with the popular dish providers in Mexico?
Where ever I end up in retirement, I must be able to watch my New England Patriots.
I'm not up to date with the workings of satilites and dish recievers etc... However, if the dish (dish network) on my deck can connect with a satilite and then my reciever displays all the English channels I need. Why can't it be set up in mexico and do the same thing?

The USA based satellites are aimed at the USA mainland with only a little spill into México. Reception is fairly good in northern México, but it drops off fast as you move south. USA satellite providers (Dish, Direct) are not licensed to provide service to people living in México. so you have to have an under the table arrangement to get the service.

Direct has a Mexican service, but it is for a Mexican audience with very little USA programing.

I think your choices would be Slingbox with an NFL cable subscription or watch the games on your computer at one of these sites:

Well, that may put a real limitation on where you end up, fish or no fish!

Having said that, it is my understanding (from Wikipedia) that there is a 'service' called NFL Sunday Ticket (available in the US only from DirectTV) that broadcasts NFL games otherwise unavailable to a particular customer (someone wanting to watch the New England Patriots play but who lives in ?). I see also that it is available in Mexico via Sky TV.

Also, while Slingbox could be an option, it would take a pretty fat budget to provide 1) a TV subscription, cable or Sat. from which the service would emanate, 2) a high speed Internet connection also at that site, 3) a 'box' there to connect the components from 1 & 2, and finally 4) a high speed Internet connection at the location wherein the receiving person resides. And since BillyD0123 says he is leaving the US, he would not have an 'at-home' residence where he could set up numbers 1 & 2 (unless he has family willing to accommodate his Patriot's thirst!).

This (the need for a specific football team's games) may fall into the category of, "I want to move to Mexico but I'll be damned if I'll give up [fill in your habit].... I'm just saying.

Maybe Shaw Direct has a 'New England' feed......

Where are you thinking of living in Mexico? There are many options. Dish with the appropriate sized dish. Telecable with an NFL channel in HD and Shaw Direct with the NFL Sunday package with over 170 games.

It all depends upon where you are planning to live. Sorry I didn't answer sooner, but I was traveling much of the day.

Any chance of me getting US based SAT signal being within 3000 feet of the border? I'm thinking good, but the question I have is if the house I move into has a Mex setup... Can I just remove the existing SAT and replace with a US setup and catch the US SAT's?

I'm a computer tech, but SAT setup is just not in my experience level, yet.
Lived for 35 months in Mexico. I feel like I paid my dues...

No. But that's because the Mexican satellite is in another point in the sky. But if you are very close to the border, chances are very, very, very great that it would be very very easy to pick up those signals from the US. You just need to point the satellite dish at the correct satellite(s) and with the correct electronics in front of the satellite dish, you know the correct LNB for the satellite programming provider you're trying to get that there will be no problem.

heh. I kinda figured it would mean drilling new holes. The other part is figuring out what direction. If it is anything like getting cell service this close to the border means... nobody will directly answer questions. They only say... ___ does not provide service in Mexico. *grumble mumble #$%##*

Okay I get it. Lots of issues - this and thats to consider when moving. The last time was in Playa Del Carmen, I believe I watched a Patriots game in a sports bar on 5th Ave.
I will travel to see a game, that's not a problem. So, maybe I need to consider being within a 2 hour drive of a Gringo friendly sports bar?
Hahaha! The search narrows, within 20 minutes of the ocean, and 2 hours of a
sports bar, that shows Patriot games.
OT... I'm meeting with a financial advisor within the month = Looking at bottom lines "after taxes" on the pension plan. Need to decide on a "cash buy out" or collect monthly installments. Possibly doing something early with the 401k as well.
Bringing him some print outs, regarding "proof of income" from Rolly's site as well.

My answer would be 'if there is US SAT service anywhere close to your border location, you will get the same reception'. SAT signals have become more focused lately, but they can't focus that sharply.

And SAT service is different than cell service in this respect.... once you cross the border with your cellphone (into Mexico) and get 'picked up' by a tower there, they know you are in Mexico. There is no way for a SAT provider to determine that you are 3000 ft. away from US soil.

Just find out which SAT provider(s) are across the border and use one of them. As far as getting the right satellite, RV'ers do it all the time as they move about the (US) country. DirectTV even has a plan for RV'ers where they will give you a free dish, travel tripod and 50' of cable when you sign up your home account.

I have SKY dish service in Tijuana, and it has some american football channels (which I don't even watch - long live soccer!).
The basic packet costs me about $35, I think, and they charge it directly to my american credit card.

The answer is yes, you can have NFL from Directv in Standar or High Definition. You need a Directv system and get the nfl pack. Btw you need a 2.40 mts antenna.
