Unless there is another I am totally unfamiliar with (very likely) Atotonilco (el Alto), pop. 60,000 approx., is a ways off from there and could better be described as being up the highway north from La Barca. If you were to continue north from there on an alternate highway you would reach San Miguel el Alto but not SM de Allende. If we happen to be speaking of two completely different Atotonilco's then these are not entirely in vastly distant areas of the country so there could be some confusion, but I didn't find even the tiniest pueblito by that name in a brief look around SMA and Dolores Hidalgo. Getting turned around and heading the wrong direction, once upon a time, I ended up in San Miguel el Alto and had never seen such a procession of beautiful women before in my life! I was told in a taco stand we stopped at to get our bearings there was a fiesta just up the road. Fortunately I was still single so decided to spend the night and attend the fiesta. At this time of my life my eyes are bigger than other parts of my anatomy so I didn't get lucky in a popular sense of the word but I sure got an eye full of some of the most beautiful sights Mexico has to behold. I was told later that Los Altos of Jalisco (not very distant from that part of GTO you are speaking of) is just full of these lovely ladies. That could be why the Atotonilco I speak of could be the one with an ex-pat population. Just in case there is some confusion over the name of this pueblo and another you speak of and you end up in this one by accident, you won't be sorry.
