Airport Taxi to Ajijic

I did a search for the cost of taxis from Guadalajara Airport to Ajijic and the post was in 2004. Does anyone know the current price of this taxi?

It should be 320 pesos. when you clear customs at the airport and walk out the doors there is a taxi booth. you pay for your taxi there and the price is preset, they give you a voucher for the taxi and when you walk out of the airport there will be taxis there to get the voucher and take you to Ajijic. There is only one taxi company at the airport authorized to operate there, I like this set up because you don't have any hassles with a driver over price and they hurry to get you to your destination so they can get back and get another fare.

Two weeks ago it was $600 to Joco. I imagine in the $400-500 range to Ajijic

I should know this since I took one two days ago, but....

Anyway, it's definitely in the low 300's....probably 320 to Ajijic as stated above. I think there's an additional surcharge if it's late a night, but only maybe an extra 50 pesos.

I believe the 320 peso figure is accurate. You might include a bit more for a tip to the driver. I usually give him 10 pesos per bag.

Another important consideration is directions. If your Spanish is excellent, and you know exactly where you are going in the Lakeside area, this is no problem. If either of the above is not the case, then ask your hotel or B&B to email you directions from the airport to their location in Spanish. Then, just give your driver the email and sit back and enjoy the ride. Never assume that your driver knows his way around Lakeside. Some do, some don't, and you don't want to spend the tail end of your long journey, all jet-lagged out, trying to figure out where the hell you are going with someone who doesn't speak your language. Word to the wise!

Thanks for your info. We have an email with directions in Spanish. I have also done some studying of the maps of Lakeside. We are really looking forward to our visit this November.

600 pesos to JOCO.... talk about taking advantage of the tourists... i payed 200 pesos from gdl airport to zapopan....

The taxi rates are all fixed. It's way farther to Joco than to Zapopan.

I always have one of Francisco's sons take us to and from (mmet us) at the airport. They speak perfect English and drive sanely. They know the entirte area. The cost from Ajijic to Airport is $ 300. pesos. The cost to meet you when you return to the airport is $ 350 pesos.
