Restaurants in Condesa: We enjoyed Argentinian style steak dinners at Parilla Quilmes, on Av Alfonso Reyes. In June, we had an exquisite meal at El Racó, on Av Sonora in Colonia Hipódromo Condesa. (It's across from the northern tip of Parque México.) A walk through Parque México is a must, and around the loop of Avenidas Amsterdam and México, enjoying the Park and seeing the grand houses lining it, especially along the west side. A number of years ago, we went to Contramar, but I was off-stride that day and for me, at least, it was unsatisfactory. You wil lhopefully enjoy it more. The noise inside the hangar like buildong was insoportable. Centro: for great tacos, I'd pick El Huequito, on Calle Bolívar, just south of Isabel La Católica, and of course, there are dozens more. Café: El Jekemir, Calle Isabel La Católica at Regina. Also the renovated Calle Regina district is small but attractive. For a high end comida, make reservations at El Cardenal on Calle Palma, Centro. Bakery: Pastelería Ideal, on 16 de Noviembre or the almost equally impressive branch on Calle Rep. de Uruguay near 5 de Febrero. Do you know about the Turibus? Its a fun way to get an overview of the city. http://www.turibus.com.mx/ Centro is simply fascinating just to randomly walk around. Have a great visit!
