Here's an interactive map, from the New York Times, dated March 22, 2009, intended to roughly give the spheres of influence of the major drug cartels in Mexico. However, the map is over a year old, and the spheres of social/political influence can be 'fluid'. Plus consider the source of the information. The map doesn't take into account assassinations/ detention/disappearance etc. of major players since March 2009. So if anyone has a map taking more recent influences into account, would appreciate, a link. Only putting up this particular link because of the way, the map portrays circles of influence, overlapping. Neither does the map, feature other local cartels operating under the influence or outside the influence other cartels, El Milenio(El Valencia), Colima, El Sierra or the Federation(supposedly a coalition of several cartels united against the Zetas)........etc. Am of the mind, that even minor players, like neighbourhood gangs in smaller towns, without necessarily any significant cartel affliation, are positioned to take situational advantage during the current desmadre . http://www.nytimes.com/...03/22/us/BORDER.html
