PRI Candidate for Governor of Tamaulipas Assassinated

The probable winner of next Sunday's gubenatorial election in Tamaulipas, PRI candidate Rodolfo Torre Cantú, was assassinated this morning near Cuidad Victoria. Obviously the work of a cartel--most likely the Zetas.

Now my wife is telling me as of five minutes ago a total of 7 or nine were killed. Heck of a time to be running for Govenor of the State of Tam! All on the roads I'm going to take next week. Thought I would wait until after the election and hurricane Alex passed. Don't know which is worse!

Notice one guy is still alive (and I understand he did survive (for now)) . . . . . these photos were fresh!

A very professional hit, according to reports. The assassins blocked the road with a semi truck and trailer and somehow jammed their communications so they could not report what was happening.

I also have seen reports that the shooters were driving vehicles disguised as military trucks and were wearing uniforms of Mexican marines.
