Driving in Jalisco-legal for another to drive my car

A friend and I are planning a trip from Ajijic to Tapalpa tomorrow. Can my friend (he has the same visa status as I do) drive my car WHILE I AM IN IT? Unfortunately it is too late to call my insurance agent in Riberas.

Yes.

And don't miss "the rocks". They're only about a 10-minute drive outside of town. And if you like a nice alcohol drink, the local Ponche de Granada (I think that's it....pomegranite?) is delightful! And buy some wonderfully made preserves. And....

Tapalpa is sweet. The weekends are lively and fun with the Guadalajara folks. Have a nice trip.

Yes, your friend may legally drive your car while you are in it, but remember; most Mexican insurers will only cover persons that are named on the insurance policy for the car, unlike in the United States where most insurance policies will cover any licensed driver. Take the time to check with your Mexican insurance company about it.
