Sirius radio problem

Can't Post | Private Reply
I've been enjoying Sirius satellite radio in my car ever since I bought my car in Texas two years ago. Suddenly 3 days ago I lost the signal. I subscribed using my son's address in Texas and my subscription doesn't expire until November. Has anyone else had the same problem? I'm wondering if they discovered that I live in Mexico. I sent them an e-mail two days ago but I can't call them because they list only an 888 number. 1-888-539-SIRIUS (7474)

You asked that 888 question two years ago, I guess you forgot. Look here:

Hi...,

My Sirius radio has acted quite strange the last few weeks and ideally someone will have an idea of what might be wrong with it. It constantly is searching for signal and then one day, no problem it works fine only to have the same problem the next day. All of the other functions of the audio system work fine. Any ideas!

Thanks you..

This is a guess, and I could be way off. I presume you are receiving a digital signal. What happens if you just barely have a strong enough signal and sometimes it's not strong enough to come in and the other times it is. As I have learned with DISH Network the signals from a satellite in the fringe areas tend to be stronger and then weaker at certain times of the day. Another question, Do you know whether your antenna is line of site with the satellite carrying the signal.

When my XM radio is not line of site with either of the the two satellites that simulcast XM radio, I get nothing. I usually use mine only in the house, very seldom in the car. If I have the antenna on the wrong side of the house in Ajijic, the antenna can not see either of the satellites transmitting the signals and I don't get a signal.

I hope someone has a better idea. I understand though, that the signal from Sirius comes in well along the shores of Lake Chapala. I have no idea where you are in Mexico.

We have similar Sirius signal strength issues here in Yucatan.

How many bars of signal did you get when it was working?
When we had only 3 bars of signal, it was almost guaranteed that the signal levels would fluctuate later, causing later periods of total loss of signal.

We found that moving the antenna to a sweet spot 10 fee away from the original placement gave 7 - 10 bars, but moving the antenna just 1 inch in any direction caused signals to fall back to 3 bars = erratic signals.

Tree leaves, light clouds, etc also reduce our signal strength levels.
