Ok: accent marks, what am I doing wrong?

I thought I had this. Guess I don't

I want to use the alt 160 and so on to do accent marks. I tried it with and without the num lock key on. No go.

I was able to do it with the Num Lock key on.



Like that.

Make sure in your profile that you have chosen Post Style: Markup

I think that should work for you.

Well, I go to my profile and don't find anything that says "post style - markup," however, at the top of my post it does say that my post style is "markup." So, I have the num lock "on" and I press alt 160 :

here's what I get:

Well, it says "post style - markup" and I type alt then 160 and what you see above is what I get. I tried a space after alt and that doesn't work either - just throws me out of the program.

What am I missing?

Is your Post/Writer Editor on advanced? and are you using IE 5.5 or higher?

Are you using a laptop or desktop?

If laptop, you will need to also hold the "Function" key down to activate the numeric keyboard. Num Lock does not apply to the numbers accross the top of the key board.

On a desktop, you must use the numbers on the number keypad as well!

If you are using Windows how about configuring your keyboard for Spanish in the control panel? It is pretty simple to do, just go to the keyboard icon in Control Panel and click the language tab. It's like having 2 keyboards. It only takes a small amount time to get used to using.

You then have all the punctuaction and diacritical marks and the with one keystroke. You can easily switch back and forth by using a key combination (you are offered several choices for this when you are in the Language window for the keyboard).

There are some slight differences from the Spanish language keyboard I bought here but it is pretty close. The @ on my keyboard is done by pressing Alt Gr and the Q key instead of the Alt Gr and the 2 key.

Georgia, I was able to recreate your problem -- getting 60 instead of .

You must hold down the ALT key while you press the code. If you just tap the ALT and then enter 160, you will get 60. It takes both hands to make it work.
