Extranjeros in Mexico live in a bubble; always denying reality, misunderstanding the community in which they exist; much as we in Oakland constituting the business class, worthy as we saw it but not subject to the community and/or domestic violence rampant among us, in the 1970s pretended we were invulnerable to those urban woes afflicting those seemingly doomed to live in that urban prison. These same "extranjeros" live amongst us in San Cristóbal de Las Casas incapable of reading the local press and so oblivious to the fact that yesterday along Francisco I. Madero within a block of a local bank at 2:00PM in the midst of froliciking holiday Easter upper-class crowds from all over Mexico one two bit delivery man with 450Million Pesos in his vehicle was slaughtered by robbers in his vehicle using machine guns for the money who then slipped into the daytime revelry of San Cristobal with virtually no chance of having to pay recompense for this murder and there you have it. This Chiapas is a terribly violent plce as is Jalisco and countless other places about here but it is hard to hear gunshots when your head is buried in the sand and your personal butt is not pierced.
