Thanks for the input Neil. I had not seen that article. What John and I are talking about is different. We're talking about the US programming meant for the US market that had been bleeding over into Mexico on Echo Star 7 located at 119 degrees West that is about to be replaced by Echo Star 14 which will have a much tighter beam that may mean it can not be received lakeside or that we will need a much bigger dish. We are not talking about DISH programming meant for the Latin American countries which will be when possible in Spanish and will be focused on Latin America An interesting story. In the early 1980s here along the shores of Lake Chapala one was able to get programming meant for the US market on 18 foot satellite dishes designed by Bill Martin, who still lives here lakeside. And then when they tripled the frequencies around year 2000, the dish sizes got much smaller. But the signals still meant for the US still bleed over the border and covered much of Mexico. Now, darn it, the footprints from the satellites are getting so accurate, that it's getting harder and harder to pick up programming meant for the US this far south (Greater Guadalajara Area). Sadly about a year ago when the DISH Network put up a new satellite at 110 degrees West, the signal was so much better focused over the US that there was so little bleedover that we lost maybe 60% of the programming from that bird. Those in the know are suggesting that when the bird at 119 W is replaced, probably in May, that we will loose the majority of the channels on this bird, which means that there will not be that much programming viewable from DISH USA. Now at the same time this is happening, Dish Mexico is hitting the headlines. DISH Mexico is not DISH USA. The programming offered by DISH Mexico is meant for those who speak Spanish. To understand more about the programming on DISH Mexico take a look at http://www.dish.com.mx/ . Sadly some of those who have not read the small print believe that DISH Mexico is meant for the English language market, not the Spanish speaking market.
