The local police are calling it a botched robbery attempt, because the bad guys left without taking anything. There was no "storming in". They knocked quietly on the RV door (wife's description was "light tapping"), she called husband to open the door, bad guys didn't break in or come into the unit. There was one hand-gun described in her official report, and that gun went off when husband scuffled with them, knocking them each to the ground, outside the unit.

Not sure why you're trying to downplay it. The article said the men knocked, the "storming in" was when the men pushed their way in once the door was opened. They left because the wife slammed the door and locked it after the husband tumbled out with them. Locked outside the RV and the horn now blaring, of course they left. It was probably a botched robbery, so what.

No one is trying to down play anything. Many of the printed articles in Calgary differ from the woman's own audio interview.

horrible story... i am glad he survived the attack.... an r/v or motorhome door is higher then the ground and some have steps..... the minute the husband saw these criminals, he simply kicked them or pushed them off the stair ... his wife was very smart to begin to honk the vehicle to get everyones attention at the rv park... the husband is lucky to have a gun shot to the leg.... i have driven by that r/v place.... very quiet but that street is dark and no real police in the area.

the nightwatcher...........well... the best idea for a nightwatcher is to put him 30 feet of the ground so that he cant be touched or tied up... he could even have a bell he could ring to warn the visitors.

lighting is a must.... lights with sensors around the r/v park would be a thing to ask management at any r/v park in mexico.

i hope the canadian community in mazatlan are keeping them company
