Depends on the ambient temperature where you are. If you're in the frozen northland, sure. Put them out on the back porch. If you're in Mérida, I would put them in the refrigerator as soon as they have cooled from cooking.

im in new york.. its winter.. not freezing.. they were in my kitchen prob about 65 degrees F until i woke up 7hrs later then i put them in the fridge.

I would think no, but many Mexican cooks think that once something has been cooked, it is safe to leave it out unrefrigerated.


An old wives tale? Probably. Is it common? I doubt it. Does it happen? Sometimes.
